Photography A1 Mock Project
Infant and Elderly (Experimental)
My Research/Image Bank:

During this photo shoot my camera settings were...
Exposure 1/80 sec, F/4.5 and an ISO of 400.
I also used parts of my studio to enhance the lighting but left the background as the natural playing area that the baby is used to.

During this shoot, I will proceeding with two minor shoots that link closely together whilst also having a strong contrast. For example, I will complete a shoot of infants as well as the elderly. This being the reason why I have created my research image bank of cute babies and infants as inspiration for my first shoot.
AO1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.
My Contact Sheets:
Throughout my contact sheets I underlined the images I thought to be the best of my work in green whilst underlining the images I thought needed improvements in red to show clear differences between the best and the worst.

My Best Images:
These photographs I chose to be the best as I believe that they show a wide variety of different infant portraits which hold extreme amounts of innocence and cuteness within the frame. I believe that this subject choice worked well for me as the infant enjoyed being photographed and was able to interact with the subject and allow a number of different emotions to be shown in the photographs.

Images that need Improvements:
AO3: Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress.
I believe that these photographs were considered to be the ones that needed most improvements in terms of lack of focus from the subject. However, this was expected as the subject was a young baby. Although this was expected, the young baby seemed to enjoy being photographed and allowed me to capture unbelievable cute photographs.

My Editing Process:
AO2: Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.

During my editing process, I created some to be black and white in quite high definition. As well as, some to be in highly saturated colours and some to be in between the two- not quite black and white but very low levels of saturation.
My Edited Images:

AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.
This overall shoot I considered to be successful because the final edited images were some of my most successful portraits. Also, I believe that my editing choices of the range of highly saturated, low levels of saturation and black and white. Although, they may not be considered to be overly dramatic, when comparing the young aged infants and babies to the elderly people in their portraits.
Life Cycle (Elderly)
My Research/Image Bank:

After proceeding with my infant portraiture shoot I decided to gather a research image bank of elderly people in the portraits. I plan to use these as inspiration for my next shoot.
AO1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.
Within my photo shoot of the elderly portraits I used the camera settings of...
Exposure 1/60 sec, F/5.3 and an ISO of 1100.
I used my own studio equipment to set up better lighting and a variety of different backgrounds.

My Contact Sheets:

Throughout my contact sheets I underlined the images I thought to be the best of my work in green whilst underlining the images I thought needed improvements in red to show clear differences between the best and the worst.

My Best Images:
The photographs are enlarged versions of the photographs I previously underlined in green within my contact sheets. I chose these to be my favourites as they all represent a positive but innocent mood and effect.

Images that need Improvements:
AO3: Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress.
Like my previous shoots, I chose these photographs as my ones requiring most improvement as their is a lack of focus from the subject towards the camera. Due to the movement of the subjects there has been in most of the images some type of blur.

My Editing Process:
AO2: Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.

Throughout my editing process, I edited most photographs to be in black and white with only a few left in colour. I believe doing this helped to highlight the elderly people's wrinkles and define their ages.

My Edited Images:
AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.
